her back. Oral tradition describes this
doll as being made by Christian Indians
in the Ohio Territory and given to Polly,
the daughter of the Moravian Indian missionary, John Heckewelder, in 1782.
The doll has been described by experts as wearing native frontier dress of the
late 18th cent. |
