online lecture by Meaghan O’Riordan, Archivist of the Moravian Church in America, Southern Province

When Meaghan O’Riordan arrived to serve as archivist for the Moravian Archives in the Southern Province in August of 2022, the archives had been without an archivist for two years. It was clear that this was a well-loved and treasured collection and organization that needed proper time and attention to bring operations in-line with 21st-century best practices. Materials were housed in archival boxes but not the best kind of archival boxes. There were inventories for every box but no online finding aids so users could search for what they might need. The memoir collection had been almost completely scanned, but those scans were only available upon request. In just 2.5 years, O’Riordan, along with a team she has built, has improved on all this and more.
